Embracing Winter: Training Through the Cold at PWD Atleticas Academy

Winter in the UK can be challenging—freezing temperatures, biting winds, and often, endless grey skies. Yet, here at PWD Athletics Academy, we refuse to let the weather dampen our spirit or derail our dreams. As we inch closer to the highly anticipated competitions, such as the upcoming event at Lee Valley in London, we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence, no matter the challenges.

Training through the winter season is not for the faint-hearted. It’s cold, it's tough, and yes, sometimes it feels like the warmth of summer is a distant memory. But we know that greatness is forged in moments of persistence and resilience. Hard work in adverse conditions prepares us not only physically but mentally.

Most of our athletes train three to four times a week, pushing themselves to their limits and beyond. Every session is a testament to our determination and drive. Whether it’s sprint drills in frosty winds, endurance training under overcast skies, or strength workouts that leave us breathless, we know each effort counts.

These sessions are not just about building muscle or perfecting technique—they’re about discipline, teamwork, and maintaining focus when conditions are far from ideal. The challenges we face now will undoubtedly prepare us to shine when competition day arrives.

Every stride, every leap, every drop of sweat brings us closer to our goals. We envision success at Lee Valley and beyond, knowing full well that the hard work we put in during these cold months will pay dividends when it matters most.

Moreover, winter training instills a sense of camaraderie. There's something uniquely inspiring about braving the elements together, encouraging each other through the chill, and celebrating small victories as a team.
